The Delhi government has announced a new deadline for residents to secure ownership rights in unauthorized colonies, moving the date to January 31 from the original October 31. This decision comes in response to the unexpectedly low application rate. Concerns over taxes and responsibilities related to ownership are prevalent among residents. Under the PM-UDAY scheme, legal rights will be extended to individuals living in 1,511 unauthorized colonies.
